2. Use lists to play MP3 files instead of selecting them manually. IPod will load the MP3 files in the cache before playing. If you will be in a long-distant travel, you had better create a play list before traveling. In addition, the click on the "next" button of iPod or using the fast forward button will reduce the time.

3. Use the iPod regularly. In order to give appropriate maintenance to lithium battery, it is very important to use it regularly. Please remember to complete at least one charge every month.

4. The surrounding temperature will also affect the iPod battery. Keep your iPod away from the heat of the sun (even though the iPod has the leather protection). Because the heat is most likely to reduce the battery performance.

5. Update to the latest software. Please ensure that the iPod has the latest software of Apple.
Because Apple engineers may have developed new methods to extend the playing time. For example, the previous iPod models without dock and charger benefited a lot from upgrading to the version 1.3 or newer version. 6. The playing time will be shortened by using equalizer (EQ) settings. If you set up EQ settings in iTunes, these settings will be sent to your iPod. The less use of compressed format of audio files , and the less energy is needed. When you transmit MP3 files to iTunes, you may need to compress them if the audio files are too large and not compressed (including AIFF or WAV format). Or you could use different compressing methods, such as AAC or MP3.
